Response to the Commerce Commission on open banking progress

In September 2025, the Commerce Commission Te Komihana Tauhokohoko released an open letter outlining its observations on recent progress in open banking. We responded in writing to the Commission in early December.
Our response included an update on substantial progress delivered by the API Centre, along with our views on determining immediate priorities for standards development and on the Commission’s desired migration from impersonated access to standardised APIs.
