The foundation years of Tō Mātou Haerenga will lay all-encompassing foundations of te ao Māori within our company and in the development of frameworks to incorporate this into our work. These frameworks will sustain the ongoing internal upskilling of our team and board, build relationships with relevant Māori stakeholder organisations, and positive role modelling, advocacy and leadership of te ao Māori within the industry.
Our Tō Mātou Haerenga goals and outcomes are outlined below. We will:
- Build cultural competency in te ao Māori and our bicultural understanding.
- Strengthen our governance to enable Māori input and perspectives through foundational policies and arrangements.
- Advocate for Māori our mahi.
- Nurture relationships with Māori stakeholders within and adjacent to our industry.
Ngā Tohu Ārahi – API Centre Data Handling Guidelines
One of our first priorities from our Māori strategy has been to explore Māori data sovereignty principles and Māori data governance.
Data is a treasure, whakapapa is sacred, and these principles and framework help to ensure these treasures are protected for generations to come.
Our exploration, focused on the API Centre, led us to a review of current practices in the centre and new commitments to Māori data skills, building networks with Māori in our industry and the development of data handling guidelines for our Standards Users.
Known as Ngā Tohu Ārahi, the API Centre data handling guidelines offer Standards Users a universal framework for the ethical handling of customer data, grounded in the principles of Māori data sovereignty and Māori data governance.
